Derrick joined Seamons Cycling Club in 1949, he was a good friend of Dennis and Sheila Chapman and he married Sheila in 1956.
He cited those days as some of the happiest of his life and the photographs that exist of this time (The John & Carol Archive Vol 1&2) certainly show that this was true.
When he sadly passed away earlier this year his daughter Liz contacted the club. She offered, with some of her father’s estate,
to arrange for her friend, Anna Richards, to design this new website.
Liz also presented the club with a new trophy ‘The Derrick Hamer Trophy’. This will be for the Ladies Veteran TT Champion.
Our thanks to Derrick’s family for their generous support for our Club and to Anna for her work in designing our fantastic new website.
