Club 10s start Wednesday 13th April

06 April 2022 :

The Club 10’s, start next Wednesday 13th April at 7.00pm from the lay-by opposite the Bears Paw, on the A50 at High Legh. It will be run through to the Summer on the same course but with a great new addition to the already familiar format.

Club 10 TT’s
This year our Wednesday night 10 mile time trials will include a road bike category, which will run at the same time as the main event.

To be eligible to compete in the road bike competition, the bike to be ridden must not have aero bars or clip-on bars, both wheels must have a minimum of 12 spokes, no disc wheels or deep section wheels (maximum rim depth 65mm), aero helmets or full face visors, skin suits, aero socks or shoe covers cannot be used and riders must not ride with their forearms resting on the handlebars at any time.

All Seamon’s riders, on TT bikes or road bikes, are in the main competition i.e. for each of the Wednesday nights 30 points will be awarded for the fastest rider, 29 points for second fastest etc. etc. The winner 🏆 of the series is the rider with the highest number of points gained over any 12 of the events. There will be gold 🥇, silver 🥈and bronze 🥉medals awarded for men 🏆, women 🏆 and juniors 🏆
.
In addition, only if riding a road bike, for each of the Wednesday nights 15 points will be awarded for the fastest rider, 14 points for second fastest etc. etc. As in the main competition the winner is the rider with the highest number of points gained over any 12 of the events. There will be gold 🥇, silver 🥈and bronze 🥉medals awarded but only one award per person and the overall competition takes precedent.

Championship 10 mile time trial (18 May)
This event is for Seamon’s riders only and we really want to encourage all of you to come along and give it a try, or marshal, and then we will be having a finger buffet 🥯🍗🥪🧁 at the Bears Paw afterwards for all riders and marshals (paid for by the club) so do please come and join in. We will need to know who is coming at least a week beforehand for catering numbers.

There will again be a separate road bike category (as described previously) running at the same time as the main event. Potentially anybody riding a road bike could, if fast enough, win the club championship but there will be a medal/plaque for 1st woman 🏆, 1st junior 🏆 and 1st man🏆 riding a road bike🚴‍♀️.

We would like to see cyclists from the Social/T4, T3, T2, T1 and half-day groups all having a go.

Which group will have the best turn-out?

Regards,
Jeanette
